Term 3 Reflection
This term was so fun, we did so much stuff, let's name some, kapa haka, debates, bowls, trips, lunchtime clubs, mandarine, tyers, bike track, calendar art, academic and tech famine. But these were my favourite ones below.
Calendar art
Calendar art was so much fun we had to get our books and start off by doing still-life picture like oranges, lemons and cups then experiment with paint and different drawing techniques. Then we had to practise our proper calendar art onto this special paper, it was like a west coast rainy background with a black house with windows and in the windows was stuff we like rugby league boots, I reckon I could have done them better but it was so hard to do with a big paintbrush.
Academic
This term we started doing a reading thing called reciprocal reading it's where we are in our reading groups and we have a card or two which tells us what our roles are. The rolls are the Clarifier, Questioner, Leader, Summarizer, and Reader. With these rolls we read the book and use them to understand it then the next book we switch roles I still reckon we didn't need to do it every day though maybe every two or three. For maths this term it looked really hard but when ms’s Gibson explained it, it was easy we learned stuff like BEDMAS.
Bowls
At the start of the term, we got introduced to bowls. Bowls is a thing we do every Tuesday for one block. For bowls, we have 2 teams on a green mat that is approximately 10 metres long and 4 metres wide. Each team has 8 bowls and one team that wins the coin toss gets the jack to throw up the mat then the two teams rolls there bowls up and try to get the closest to the jack. It was so fun but I got kicked out.
Film festival
For the film festival, we had to make a 2-minute movie about whatever we want. For ours, we did a movie about saving the blue penguins. My group was me, Archie and Rhys. we worked really well together as a group and got our work in and it turned out really well.

ReplyDeleteHi there!
My name is Matilda and I am a blog commenter for the Summer Learning Journey this year! I’ve noticed that you haven’t done any of the activities yet. Our finish date is the 24th of January but there is still time to give it a go and start gaining some points!
It sounds like you had a really good term! And you did an amazing job reflecting on it! What was your favourite part? The calendar art sounds like it was a lot of fun! I've never heard of reciprocal reading before. It sounds like a really good way of getting a lot of people involved in the same story. Which roll did you like the best?
The Summer Learning Journey has heaps of activities to choose from! Here is the link. Have a look through and find some activities you like the looks of. I’m looking forward to seeing which ones you choose!

Can’t wait to hear from you!
